Backhoe operators nabbed for allegedly stealing shoes during firefight operation

CEBU CITY-Two backhoe operators were arrested by Ayala Center Cebu security guards while working to put out the fire at the Metro department store in Ayala Center Cebu on Saturday morning.

Arnel Villarta, 39, and Edwin Sarabia, 49, were caught stealing shoes while in the firefight operation.

Ayala security guard Revimelfe Serenas said he saw the two suspects after the responding team broke the wall of the mall.

Sarabia and Villarta denied the allegation, saying they were just fitting the shoes after they found them.

The two were now detained at the police station in Barangay Mabolo in Cebu City.
