Habal drivers told to police ranks during Sinulog

Leaders and representatives of motorcycle-for-hire (habal-habal) drivers met with City Hall officials to discuss preparations for the Sinulog celebration.

Arnel Tancinco, officer-in-charge of Cebu City Hall’s peace and order program said the drivers and operators are told to contact their hotlines for any problem and to follow traffic rules.

He said the drivers were expected to police their areas for violators. “First thing is, their motorcycles should not cause any traffic issues, second is, they should be the ones to initially reprimand those drivers who will not follow regulations since they already know the jurisdiction,” Tancinco said in Cebuano.

He said they are asking for the commitment of these drivers to ensure an orderly and peaceful Sinulog celebration.
