AFTER 11 years in the Philippine football scene, the FC Meralco Manila will now be disbanded, according to an announcement made by the management last Monday in the team’s official Facebook page.
In a post on their Facebook page, the management said they were trying to bring in new investors to keep the club going but fell short.
“Circumstances beyond our control have made it difficult for FC Meralco to continue,” part of the post said.
The Manila-based club extended its apologies and gratitude not only to its fans but also its previous sponsors. The management is also helping Meralco players find new teams.
The FC Meralco Manila placed third place in the first Philippines Football League (PFL) after losing to Cebu-based Global Cebu FC via an aggregate score of 3-2 in the semifinals last December 2017.
