CEBUANO rider Jun Duron gears up for the 7-Eleven Trail Series on February 18 at the Timberland Heights in San Mateo, Rizal.
This will be Duron’s third straight stint in the annual race. He will be competing in the 30 to 34 men’s category.
The 32-year-old Duron said he is looking to bounce back after a disappointing finish last year when his bike broke down. He failed to finish the race, thus also botching his bid to improve his fifth-place finish in 2016.
Duron knows what he’s up against in the race and said he has prepared well as he aims not just to finish this time, but also land a spot in the Top 10.
“This is a different cross country race. You really need to have endurance since it’s a 40-kilometer cross country marathon,” said Duron, who had a lot of time to prepare under the tutelage of coach Donjie Dormitorio.
“As of now, I’m focused on endurance (training). I’m starting a base training so that I can cope with the intense training. I have a program sent by sir (Donjie).”
