ALL-FEMALE trio Maka Girls is the latest auditionee from Cebu City who got the nod of the Pilipinas Got Talent (PGT) Season 6 judges to proceed for the next round.
In an episode aired last Saturday (January 13) at ABS-CBN Network, Gen Flores, Kristina Cassandra Dilao, and Raechelle Mae Faelnar performed their popular single, “Gugmang Maka” which wowed the audiences and judges Vice Ganda, Robin Padilla, Angel Locsin, and Freddie M. Garcia.
As they performed the song, the audience could be seen clapping to the beat and even getting up to dance while Garcia was heard saying, “Galing!”
After the performance, PGT Season 6 judge Garcia told them, “I like your song. It’s in Bisaya right? I like the beat. I like the dance steps and you really look fabulous!”
The song, “Gugmang Maka” was composed by Russel “Ching” Alegado the same person behind the song, “I Love Cebu.”
“Gugmang Maka” was also the winning piece performed by the Maka Girls during the 37th Cebu Popular Music Festival last year.
“Grabe, nakita niyo naman kung gaano nagsayaw, umindak at tumayo ang audience sa inyo,” Locsin said.
Padilla, for his part, did not just praise their performance but also their beauty.
“Eto na yata ang pinaka-ecstatic na oras sa buhay ko sapagkat ang inyong mga kagandahan ay Pilipinang Pilipina. Ang inyong awit ay Bisaya ‘yan pero Pilipino yan. Buong sinehan na to ay tumatagundon dahil proud na proud ang mga Bisaya at Pilipino. Ang ga-ganda niyo,” Padilla said.
Vice Ganda described the Maka Girls’ performance as fierce.
“Ganda. Maganda ang boses niyo. Maganda ang blending,” he said.
Before Maka Girls was formed, Flores, Dilao, and Faelnar joined Sinulog Idol competition but from different seasons.
In an interview with Cebu Daily News last Saturday, Faelnar said they had fun during the audition.
“And we would love to be the next champion. We know we can properly represent the best talent of the Philippines,” she said.
Faelnar was the grand champion of Sinulog Idol Season 2. At 22, she co-manage a branch of Yoga Thai Massage and Spa owned by her fiance.Dilao, for her part, hopes that
Cebuanos would be proud of their performance.
“Ni -join mi kay para mas ma showcase pa ang amo mga talento ug labaw sa tanan, mapasigarbo ang talento sa mga Sugbuanon,” she added.
Dilao, 22, was hailed as the grand champion during the Sinulog Idol
Season 6. At present, she is employed at Cebu City Hall.
Flores said that their group will showcase more sizzling performances.
The 20-year-old performer is the vocalist of the Limited Edition Band. She joined Sinulog Idol in 2016 and made it to the sixth night of the
competition.
