WITH the aim of improving last year’s third place finish, the University of San Jose- Recoletos (USJ-R) Flag Football Team held a tryout for aspiring players last Sunday at the Plaza Independencia in preparation for the 5th Intercollegiate Flag Football League.
The tryout produced 25 new recruits, five of whom are senior high school students.
“With the rise of defending champions University of San Carlos (USC), we are trying to improve too,” team captain and middle line backer Francia Teves said. “We’re doing our best to be ready even if we have a lot of rookies. What’s important is that we have teamwork.”
This was the second time the team held a tryout.
The new league will start in the second week of February.
