AFTER organizing a cash-rich Christmas chess tournament last December, Pyroworks will be holding another competition on January 20 dubbed the Handicapping Open Chess Tournament at the Robinsons Galleria Cebu.

The tournament will use a seven-round Swiss system format and is sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP).

The champion wood pusher will receive P10,000 while the runner-up until the 20th placers will still receive cash prizes.

The competition will be divided into A and B classes.

Class A has a playing time of seven minutes and is for regular chess players while Class B has a 15-minute playing time for NCFP players with 2,000 handicap points and below.

Around a hundred wood pushers are expected to vie in the tournament.

Registration fee is P250 and P150 for the ladies, seniors, kiddies and members of the Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (Cepca).
