Though it started late, the dry run for the Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu Traslacion went well yesterday, local traffic officials said.

Despite the volume of public utility vehicles (PUVs) on the road by the time it began, the convoy proceeded smoothly from the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño from Governor Cuenco and A.S. Fortuna streets to the St. Joseph National Shrine Parish.

Chief Supt. Jose Mario Espino, Police Regional Office (PRO-7) chief and Cebu City Police Office officials along with clergy from the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño were among those in the convoy.

From the St. Joseph Shrine, the convoy passed through C. Ouano Street then took a left turn to D.M. Cortes and a right turn to A.C. Cortes Avenue to the Mandaue-Mactan Bridge.

Half of the bridge’s lane going to Lapu-Lapu from Mandaue City was temporarily closed while the convoy passed through.

A Lapu-Lapu City Hall representative met the convoy at the foot of the bridge at the Lapu-Lapu City side and escorted the convoy to the Our Lady of the Rule Parish via G.Y. Dela Cerna Street and S. Osmeña Street.

Later, the convoy went out and proceeded to the Naval Forces Central (NAVFORCEN) headquarters where the Navy ship was docked for the fluvial procession.

Six to seven Navy vessels will be used in the fluvial procession, and they will be escorted by two speed boats as sea marshals. They will be augmented by air coverage from the Air Force.
