About 12 Sinulog Festival queens from all over Cebu joined a photoshoot held at SM City Cebu Wednesday morning, a day ahead of the Sinulog Festival Queen Parade of Costumes and Runway competition.
Of the candidates who posed in uniquely designed costumes, the Daanbantayan bet named Isabel Luche drew raves from netizens with her Filipino rural life-themed gown complete with “bahay kubos” or Filipino native huts, coconut trees and rice fields.
A netizen named Eder Eduardo wrote, “This would be our Miss Universe costume!.. tingnan natin kung hindi kabugin ang tuk-tuk ng Thailand..Haha.”
Another netizen named Erwin Malayo Mellijor said “Pinaka nindot/creative nga costume nga akung nakita. Congrats sa designer! Viva Señor Santo Niño! (The best and creative costume that I’ve ever seen. Congratulations to the designer!).”
Netizen Anig Yu said, “Kinsay designer ani? Kudos to the designer. Perfect!” (Who is the designer of this [nature-themed gown]. Kudos to the designer. Perfect!”)
As of this writing, a photo of Luche’s gown that was uploaded at the Cebu Daily News Facebook page drew 15,000 likes and 4,827 shares.
The parade of costumes and runway competition will be held at the SM City Cebu Northwing Atrium on Thursday at 6 pm while the coronation night will be on Friday at 7:30 pm.
