One of a kind creations and inspiration

Patrice shows a handcrafted tote, one of the unique finds in the store.

You have to see our puppy door stoppers made of recycled fabrics!” she says.

“There are roosters and piggies, but they sell so fast. I actually like these door stoppers because they also serve as a decorative stand. You don’t find this anywhere.”

Step inside Nest Home and Fabrique Shop and enter a world of art and inspiration. Talk about the good life, a cosmopolitan taste.

The newly opened establishment is, after all, the brainchild of Cebu fashion czar, Philip Rodriguez.

The man whose creations to this day continue to spell elegance among the elite.

Handcrafted with love, their products are absolutely one of a kind and will surely charm individuals of substance and style.

Coming from a family of textile connoisseurs Patrice Tatiana Uytengsu is the likely heir apparent setting off with her natural flair for business and design.

“Business is good. We have positive response from the market and we have friends as well as customers who say they like our stuff,” Patrice beams.

“They like the concept of the store, too, and I think it’s a first here in Cebu to have something like this. Every item here is temporary. Our concessionaires are encouraged to always come up with something new. We were supposed to do it per month however it’s kind of hard since everything seems to be fast moving, especially when we launched last December. In just a week, we had to replenish our stocks, bring in new ones.”

Her uncle Philip directs the look and feel of the store. While it varies every month, the establishment currently boasts of 10 Filipino concessionaires.

There are many unique finds: ottoman denims of Northern Visayas— made by women affected by typhoon Yolanda—to home accents from  recycled jeans.

In its chinoiserie collection, the hand-painted white and blue pagoda etagere trays from Luzon are one of hottest items during the holidays.

Surely you’d fall in love with the throw pillows and tote bags from Luzon, for every design is like a story in itself.

HEIR APPARENT

The store is awash with colors — off-white, cream, blush, nude, old rose, grey, and black, Patrice, Nest in-house designer as well as operations manager, says.

“I must have black because it’s a classic. Like the little black dress, right? ”

A fashion design and merchandising graduate of De La Salle College of Saint Benilde, Patrice is honored to be working with her famous uncle.

“Every morning I report to him in his shop. There’s much pressure being the niece of “the” Philip Rodriguez, with people saying that I
will be taking the reigns. Look, I am just starting. But I really look up to him. He is my mentor and I am discovering a lot of things, outside those I learned in school. There are things that I am curious about and so I often consult him. And that’s the thing—he is always there to guide me.”

Patrice, who likes Elie Saab couture, said she personally goes for wearable designs. Nothing avant-garde for this lady.

“I would recommend a cool and simple color scheme. But definitely, have something red for the coming Valentine season. The items here in Nest are limited, I don’t carry exactly the same design, even in my made-to-order line. I want clients to feel very special, a cut above the rest.”
