MORE volunteers are needed to help expedite the packing of relief goods for the families that were evacuated due to Mayon’s eruption.

In a statement sent to Cebu Daily News last Friday, the regional office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-7) said it is looking for at least 80 volunteers to help in packaging family food packs.

These relief goods will be distributed to 83,533 persons staying in 59 evacuation centers in Albay, the DSWD regional office said.

The Mechanized Production System (MPS) of Visayas Disaster Response Center (VDRC) has to produce 50,000 relief packs every day to feed up to 250,000 persons for three days, said Ma. Shailane Marie Lucero, DSWD-7 asst. regional director for operations.

The manual packing production in VDRC is located at P.C. Suico Street, Barangay Tingub, Mandaue City.

For those interested to volunteer, contact DSWD-7 Field Office VII in Brgy. Carreta, Cebu City, at 233-0261, and look for Lilibeth Cabiara to sign up.
