FORCED RECRUITMENT
Netizens were shocked and angered over reports that a 17-year-old boy was recruited to force minors to join a gang by burning their wrists with cigarette marks.
Yap Raymond wrote, “Necessary gyud diay magpapaso sa kamot, para ing-non ka member naka ? dili pwede mag fill-up lang ka form unya mag pa ID ka ? unya mo join ka ana , madato ta ana? Haha”
(Is it really necessary to burn your wrist as a proof that you are a member? Isn’t it okay to fill-up a form then just have an ID? Then, in case you join, will it make you rich? Haha)
Another netizen named Khen Bernardo said “They’re too young. It depends on how their parents guide them in their stage of having peers. I’m lucky to say that I guided my son well. He didn’t allow himself to get involved in any group in their campus. And the good thing is, he’s very open. He tells everything to me. That’s why I’m aware of what’s happening in him inside the school premises.”
Aldrin Cariño Rivera said “Di nako mahibong kay ako mga ig-agaw tag 15 pay edad sa balamban gipang bunalan sa mga kagwang ang naka pait gipang pasuan di na ka biya” (I won’t be surprised because even my cousins, ages from 15 in Balamban, were hit by a paddle and what’s worse was they had cigarette burns on their wrists)
