LAPU-LAPU City may consider enforcing a ban on counterflowing in traffic similar to what will be implemented in Cebu City.
In yesterday’s press conference, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza said she liked the idea of Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña to enforce a counterflow ban in traffic.
“Many would be delayed and annoyed by the delay in traffic due to counterflowing so we will study its implementation,” she said. Security cameras can help spot drivers committing counterflow during traffic, she said.
Radaza said impounding the vehicles of violators will be considered. In Mandaue City, Mayor Luigi Quisumbing said he may also push for an anti-counterflow ordinance to impose discipline among motorists.
He said Mandaue City is the center and passageway of thousands of vehicles going to and from the north, south east and west of Metro Cebu on a daily basis.
“We will see how Cebu City enforces it and and then study the possibility of imposing it here in Mandaue City as well,” Quisumbing said.
