Reports on the arrival of more Chinese tourists in Cebu and neighboring areas in Central Visayas drew mixed reactions from netizens.
Jay Dough Advis wrote, “Yes they (Chinese) have been coming here for 5 years, if an army of Chinese mainlanders will visit Cebu, it’s gonna be a big mess. Guess what they did to Thailand’s Buddhist temples and tourists sites. Just imagine if they go to Kawasan Falls and Sirao Garden.”
A netizen, Miguel Lester said, “Cebu is not ready. Though a tourist destination, the province is not well designed for such. Much more, Chinese are complicated tourists entailing extra efforts in customer service. Language can be a big issue as well.”
Another netizen, Vahl Capistrano said, “Never let those Chinese employers pay exact salaries to Filipino workers and pay tax correctly.”
