TWO men suffered from electric shock as they were taking down billboards in preparation for supertyphoon Yolanda yesterday.
In Cebu City, 33-year-old Tonald Malabusa, a member of the maintenance crew of a fast food outlet in JY Square, Lahug, accidentally touched an electric wire as he was removing their company’s billboard.
Malabusa suffered severe burns on his hands. His co-worker, Roland del Rosario, said emergency personnel rushed Malabusa to the hospital.
A similar incident happened in barangay Cubacub, Mandaue City yesterday morning.
Virgio Pasencia remains in critical condition after he accidentally touched a live wire while removing a tarpaulin, said Police Officer Arnold Villacampo of the Canduman police station.
Pasencia, a native of Daanbantayan living in Consolacion town, was with 19-year-old Jonel Sarsalejo when he climbed up the billboard at around 8:50 a.m.
Both men work as maintenance personnel of Montana Subdivision.
Workers were asked to take down billboards yesterday in anticipaton of supertyphoon Yolanda which could blow down the boards, injuring people below.
