Police visibility up in Cebu City during night time

DON’T be surprised if you’re seeing more police mobile patrols on Cebu City streets especially during night time.

SSupt. Joel Doria, Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) director said that that’s his way of keeping his police force busy and more visible.

The increase in nightly patrols actually started last Valentine’s Day as a deterrent to crime. And having seen its success, Doria decided to make it a nightly routine.

“More patrol cars on our streets will let the public know that our police are doing their job,” explained Doria.

Doria added that all patrol cars of the mobile patrol group as well as patrol cars from the city’s 11 police stations will scour the streets specifically public places like churches.

Tonight they will pay extra attention to places where posssible Chinese New Year parties and festivities are held.

Doria is hopeful that the increase in police visibility will decrease the crime rate as what he noticed on Valentine’s Day when they first implemented this program. He said it is also easier for them to respond to alarms when more policemen are on the streets.
