TEAM Cebu City Boxing Club will be fielding nine pugs in the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC)- Pacquiao Amateur Boxing Cup-Visayas this weekend to be held in the City of Naga, southern Cebu.
Cebu City’s head coach Jordan Dopalco bared his official roster of boxers who will be seeing action in the tournament that will also feature other teams from the Visayas.
The tournament is simultaneously held in Luzon and Mindanao as it aims to develop young boxers to become national team members in the future.
The boxers from Cebu City Boxing Club are Angelo Bulasa (44-46-kilogram junior), Jimmy Cais (46-49kg youth boys), John Paul Gabunelas (46-49kg youth boys), John Ro Taneo (52kg youth boys), Limbert Cainap (52kg youth boys), Eduardo Jimenez (48kg junior boys), Jake Tabanao (50kg junior boys), and two female boxers in siblings Trisha Marie Llamas (44-45kg girls) and Marie Nicole Llamas (46-49kg girls).
The tournament follows the format of the Association Internationale de Boxe Amateur (AIBA).
The City of Naga is the second city to host the event after Bago City. The next hosts will be Ormoc, Antique, and Bohol. Maasin City will then be the venue for the Visayas finals on March 31.
The winners in the Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao finals will then meet in the national championships on April 14-15 in Mandaluyong City.
