Moira Dela Torre reminisces about musical journey

THE YEAR 2018 started strong for singer-songwriter Moira Dela Torre as she recalled her musical journey from nine years ago.

In an Instagram post last Sunday, the 24-year-old artist recalled that she shot her first music video titled, “After Your Heart” in an empty theater in 2009.

“And exactly a week ago, I stood in front of a two-night sold out concert in a theater filled with the most beautiful people. I don’t know how that happened. All I know is this … God is so faithful,” part of her post said.

Last February 17 and 18, Dela Torre had her first major concert at the Kia Theater titled, “Tagpuan.” It was directed by Kapamilya actor John Prats.

“There were loooong, tiring days when I felt He wasn’t there and that He wasn’t listening, but then there are miracles like this weekend when He proves me wrong a hundred thousand times over. He has proved to me that He listens and that He has a plan way better than I had ever dared to dream,” she said.

Dela Torre broke into showbiz by joining season one of “The Voice of the Philippines” in 2013 under rockstar Bamboo’s Kamp Kawayan. Seasoned performer Mitoy Yonting was eventually hailed as the grand winner.

Last year, Dela Torre interpreted Libertine Amistos’s catchy composition, “Titibo-Tibo” at the Himig Handog writing competition. The song won the grand prize and paved the way for the singer’s brand of music to be introduced to a wider audience.

Dela Torre also sang the love theme from some of the more popular films, including “Malaya” from the 2016 film, “Camp Sawi,” the Moonstarr88 original, “Torete” from last year’s “Love You to the Stars and Back” and her version of the classic, “You are My Sunshine” from the recently released, “Meet Me in St. Gallen.”
