Three people suffered serious injuries while at least 10 others were slightly hurt when a tourist bus with 20 Korean nationals aboard slammed into a motorcycle, and a Ceres Bus with 42 passengers inside in Loay Town, Bohol province on Thursday.
The impact also caused the Ceres Bus to fall off a bridge under repair in Loay town.
Those seriously injured were those riding the motorcycle – Hermisa Gulay and Joshua Naluta – and one of the Ceres bus passengers, Dextien Buhat, said PO1 Rommel Ediong, Loay town traffic investigator in a phone interview with Cebu Daily News.
Ediong said that initial investigation showed that the NF Tourist Bus suddenly bumped into a motorcycle and dragged it a few meters before it hit the Ceres Bus ahead of it at 5:40 p.m.
This caused the Ceres Bus driven by Jason Talo to fall off the bridge. Ediong said that the Koreans aboard the tourist bus suffered only minor injuries and were transferred to another tourist bus later.
According to Antonio Mejorada, the tourist bus driver, he suddenly lost the brakes as he was about to cross the bridge.
The injured Ceres Bus passengers were Lea Balabat, Alfreda Gilecame, Cyril Gilecame, Lowel Cantara, Cherry Mae Tenio, Roy Orpano, Mary Rose Torrejas, Margie Oculam, Kristal Eve Gulay, Adela Madelo, Misael Sugano, Kharla Millana, Irish Hinatuan, Elmer Makahilos, Edwin Clarasabal, Lovely Nacuna, Caren Jumawid, Elsie Lagare, Elson Calamba, and Emilio Namalata.
