ABBAS Orchard barged into the win column in the Under 11 category of the Grassroots Football League, which resumed action yesterday at the San Roque football field in Mandaue City.
Abbas notched its first win at the expense of Giuseppe FC, 3-1.
Giuseppe bounced back as it managed to forge a 1-1 draw against the University of San Jose-Recoletos.
Benthel Asia also had a successful day by winning its two assignments, a 2-1 edging of Samanthabadra and a 3-0 routing of Abbas.
Tournament organizer Oliver “Bingbing” Colina said the last playing date of the event will be on March 10 at the Campo Giuseppe in Banilad.
Colina just came from helping the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu-manned Mandaue City team win the secondary football title in the recently held Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
Because the tournament is played in a league-type format, the team with the most number of wins will bring home the title in their respective categories.
Aside from the Under 11, other categories contested in this tournament are Under 9 and Under 7.
