REIGNING World Boxing Council (WBC) Asian Boxing Council silver featherweight and World Boxing Organization (WBO) Asia Pacific youth super featherweight king Joe Noynay will fight for the first time in his hometown in the City of Bogo when he takes on Mexican Hector Garcia in a non-title showdown on April 7 at the Bogo City Sports and Cultural Complex.
The 22-year-old Cebuano boxer, born in Bogo City, will be taking on Garcia in a 10-round fight.
Noynay has come a long way since making his pro debut in 2013. Among his highlights include an eighth-round technical decision victory against Chinese prospect Jin Xiang Pan last December 16 in Zhongshan, China, which netted him the two titles he currently holds.
In that fight, the Cebuano floored Pan three times until the eighth round when a cut in Noynay’s forehead won’t stop bleeding. The referee and the ring physician stopped the bout. All three judges had Noynay leading in the scorecards when the fight was ended.
The upcoming fight card will be promoted by Elorde International Promotions, Noynay’s promoter.
The under card will feature Cris Alfante versus Renoel Pael, Cris Paulino against Jason Tinampay, Alvin Medura taking on Robert Bayo, Ronel Sumalpong facing Justin Darap, Richard Sueno squaring off with Roga Libres, and a special attraction showdown featuring female boxers Machieka Pareno and Jean de Paz.
