THE SACRED Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles Team B was the inaugural champions of the Futsal Women’s Open of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (Cesafi) after scoring an 8-0 win over the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors yesterday at the USC gym.

Scoring two goals each for the Magis Eagles were Itsuko Marie Bacatan and Trisha Marie Yu.

Bacatan scored her two goals back-to-back in the 3rd and 4th minute of the game while Yu did the same in the 28th and 29th minute to lead the team.

Other booters who found the back of the net were Arantxa Mari Trebol in the 17th minute, Shadinne Mae Pepito in the 26th, Martienne Jenn Cabatingan in the 30th and Cassandra Daphne Gillamac in the 34th minute.

The Magis Eagles’ Team A also had a successful stint, finishing third place following a 6-4 outsmarting of the St. Theresa’s College (STC), who is a guest participant in this competition since it is not a Cesafi-member school.

Magis Eagles head coach Apple Bariñan said the school has a slight advantage in this sport since it has been focusing on futsal lately.

The team actually represented Mandaue City in the recently held Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
