THE BEARS grabbed a share of the lead in the standings after they got past the Wolves, 81-70, in the Tanduay Athletics x Metro Cebu Basketball League – CWBC last weekend at the City Sports Club-Cebu basketball court.
Former Southwestern University-Phinma guard Mark Panerio led the Bears in scoring with 16 points while ex-University of San Carlos standout Sam Hermosa racked up a double-double of 11 points and 16 rebounds to push the team to the winner’s circle and into a four-way tie for first place at 2-0 (win-loss) with the Stallions, Bulls and Scorpions.
The Stallions also got their second straight win with an 80-69 win over the Lions. Former University of Cebu cager Archie Batua piled up 26 points and five rebounds to pace the Stallions.
The Cobras routed the Piranhas, 82-66, behind JR Acha’s all-around effort of 21 points, 10 boards and five assists.
The Raptors were also victorious over the Fox, 80-61, as Patrick Laput fired in 23 markers.
The Hornets also won over the Gators, 82-73, as Rickymar Berdin had 26 points, three boards and three assists.
The league is being supported Wilson Sports PH, Pocari Sweat and Rad Teamwear. Also backing the league are Shetzue’s Razor By JonLove, Tropique Dental, McDavid Philippines, Dia de Spa and Stylings.
