The 10-minute summer makeup look for moms on the go

THERE are not enough hours in a day for moms who are multitasking just to get things done. We breeze through our responsibilities with the energy of a toddler, and we somehow mastered effective ways to tick off items on our everyday to-do list.

But with the many hats we wear every day, we don’t always pay attention our looks.

Indulging in an everyday makeup routine might seem like a chore, but this summer look will only take 8 to 10 minutes (depending on how fast you can do your eyebrows!), and you’ll be out the door in no time!

It’s also good to note that this makeup look takes little to no effort because with summer looming on the horizon, we’re definitely skipping the foundation!

1. Sunscreen.

I cannot emphasize enough the importance of sunscreen and before you say no because the ones you’ve tried made you look like a ghost upon application, or left you looking like a big ball of grease by midday, there are brands in the market that have come up with newer formulation.

Think SPF but in gel or essence form that is lightweight and is easily absorbed by the skin.

2. Moisturizer.

This second most important step preps your skin for makeup.

Moisturizers lock in moisture, and creates a protective barrier giving your skin a smooth finish—the perfect canvas that makeup can easily adhere to.

That, plus the long term benefits of softer, more supple skin with fewer wrinkles.

Try not to skip this step. Your older self will thank you for it!

Get summer-ready with these makeup must-haves.

3. Concealer.

Moms know how it is to spend sleepless nights so it is imperative that we have in our beauty arsenal a good concealer to cover the traces of all the all-nighters we pulled trying to beat deadlines or to complete tasks.

Find one that doubles as a highlighter; that way, you’ll be hitting two birds with one stone.

4. Eyebrow pencil.

Nothing defines the face more than perfectly groomed brows.

Your brows can give you an instant eyelift when done properly, and with the right product, you can achieve full, well-defined brows in minutes.

Choose a shade that is closest to your hair color for a monochromatic look (not applicable if you’re going for Daenerys Targaryen’s look), fill in sparse areas using short strokes and set everything using a tinted brow gel.

I like eyebrow pencils that come in angled shapes for easy application, are retractable, and comes with their own brush so I can take them with me for midday touch-ups.

My current favorite is the L’Oréal Paris Brow Artist Xpert in 105 Brunette.

5. Mascara.

If brows give you an instant eye-lift, mascaras make your eyes look bigger and more awake.

If you have short lashes, go for the lengthening kind, if you have sparse lashes, pick the volumizing one.

One thing I like doing before applying my mascara is to gently dab the wand onto a clean tissue to remove excess product.

That way, I am sure to get evenly fanned out lashes without clumps.

6. Lip and cheek tint.

What’s a summer look without putting on a good cheek tint?

I like them cheek tints because they can effectively fake a sexy sun-kissed flush. After all, don’t we all love a healthy glow without soaking up some sun every time?

Benefit Cosmetics’ Benetint is my HG because it is sheer and gives me a rose-tinted stain that is natural, long-lasting and kiss-proof!

Need I say more?

7. Setting powder.

When you’re satisfied with your masterpiece that is your face, set everything in with a powder that is lightweight and translucent.

Find one that minimizes shine but doesn’t add coverage, and one that minimizes theappearance of pores without giving you a white cast in photos.

And voila! A summer look that is quick, easy, and perfect for every mommy!
