500 Cebu City tanods receive cash cards

At least 500 barangay tanods in Cebu City would have an easier time in getting their honorariums after they received their cash cards at the Cebu City Hall on Tuesday.

Garry Lao, City’s Office for Substance Abuse Prevention (Cosap) head, said the 577 barangay tanods are the first batch to receive the cash cards.

“This would be hassle-free for our tanods, and we need not to worry kung kanus-a nila makobra kay naa naman sa ilang ATM. Also, they need not to go to the City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) to show their ID and they don’t have to sign any disbursement,” Lao said in a press briefing on Tuesday.
The 577 barangay tanods came from 32 barangays out of the 80 Cebu City barangays.

These included tanods from Barangays Labangon, Binaliw, Hipodromo, Cambinocot, Paril, Cogon Ramos, Bulacao, Kamagayan, Punta Princesa, Banilad, Pit-os, Apas, Buot, Pahina San Nicholas, Tejero, Tabunan, Sinsin, Babag, Sawang Calero, Pung-ol Sibugay, Budla-an, Pulangbato, Quiot, Talamban, Adlaon, and Sta. Cruz.

The city government has allocated P4,000 for the tanod’s monthly honorarium for each barangay tanod.

Lao said the cash card system would also be extended to the senior citizens, Lupon and the persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Lao said the tanods had not yet received their honorarium since January this year, but their documents and payrolls were still being processed at the accounting office.
