NINE days after receiving a perpetual trophy in the Golden Wheels Award, promising Cebuano karter William John Riley Tiu Go will return to the stage, this time in the Sportswriters Association of Cebu (SAC) San Miguel Sports Awards on March 26 at the Robinsons Galleria.
Go received the perpetual trophy after being named the Cadet Karter of the Year in the prestigious awards for winning the Formula Cadet Expert Petron Ultron title last year.
Go, a first-time SAC awardee, will be honored along with Vince Adrian Rojo, who won the Formula SL Expert XTRA title last year and will receive a citation for his feat.
On the other hand, Master Ekin Caniga will also receive a major award for helping sustain Mixed-Martial Arts in Cebu with a series of promotions in 2017. This will be the second time for Caniga to receive such award for his support of MMA in Cebu. The founder of Yawyan Ardigma, who is also considered the godfather of the sport in Cebu, is also an inductee of the Philippine Martial Arts Hall of Fame.
Meanwhile, bemedalled Palarong Pambansa veteran Daniela Reggie dela Pisa is the lone recipient of a citation in gymnastics for winning the gold for Central Visayas last year.
The Cebu Pink Paddlers, a group of breast cancer survivors, will also receive a citation for Dragonboat for winning national and international races, while Joel Barriga Jr., Carl Bernard Bejasa, Anton Pete Abellana, Dean Harvey Tungul, Tricia Merced Opon and Elloise Carillo will receive citations for Badminton for also winning the gold medal in the Palarong Pambansa.
