SWU PHINMA Hall inaugurated

SWU SOUTHWESTERN University PHINMA inaugurated its main building, PHINMA Hall, last Wednesday as part of a five-year development plan laid out by PHINMA Education and University President Dr. Chito Salazar in October 2016.

“In line with PHINMA Education’s mission of ‘Making Lives Better through Education’ we are making sure that we have an environment and facilities to be able to serve the students better,” Salazar said.

PHINMA Hall will house the administrative offices, university library, several laboratories, and the School of Medicine.

SWU PHINMA has spent around P150 million for the renovation of the main building. The P150 million is part of the P400 million budget which is also allocated for the development of campus grounds and enhance the capabilities of its faculty members.

He said the school has already funded 28 faculties to study in the Philippines and abroad.

Tuition fee increase

With these major developments, Salazar revealed that the school plans to increase the tuition fee for incoming freshmen up to ten percent to 20 percent, while there will be a five percent tuition fee increase for their existing students.

“As much as possible, we are making sure that the increase were just minimal in order to cover the cost of our investment. For instance, if you graduated from our new Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) program, you will get a diploma from Singapore through our Singapore partner school,” he added.
