ORGANIZERS expect around 150 athletes to join the 6th Bogo City Duathlon Challenge on May 13 in Bogo City, northern Cebu.
The race will feature an elite category, which has a 10km run, 40km bike, 6km run course and also women, age-group (30-below, 31-44, 45-plus), and relay categories, all of featuring a 6km-20km-4km course.
Organizer Michael Jude Alburo said they’re expecting a more exciting stint this year.
“It will be (a) very exciting event because the LGU is very supportive with Mayor Carlo Martinez expected to join the event,” Alburo said of the event which aims to promote tourism and business industries in Bogo City.
Alburo said they are securing more marshalls and medics.
There will also be minor route changes due to road construction. Technicalities will be different due to flooding on some areas.
Transition area will be at the city hall grounds.
A total of P8,000 cash will be pocketed by the elite champion while winners of the rest of the categories will get P5,000.
Registration fee, inclusive of a singlet, finisher’s medal, giveaways, snacks, and raffle prizes, is pegged at P1,000 for the elites, and P800 for the other participants.
Interested participants may contact 0933-600-3958, 0917-956-1131, or 260-5310 for inquiries.
Last year, Noel Tillor, a Bogo City native, topped the men’s elite. Sulpicio Omboy and Jose Baguio finished as runners up.
On the other hand, Minglanilla’s Lizane Abella ruled the women’s elite. Lucille Ruiz finished second.
