WITH only a week left in the elimination round of the 2018 Governor’s Cup Volleyball Tournament, teams continue their bid for quarterfinal spots as they did battle today in three different venues.
Only two brackets in the South Division have their quarterfinal slots completed while the rest are still up for grabs.
Two teams per bracket will advance to the quarters.
Bracket 1 and Bracket 3 of the Southern Division have been completed with Carcar City (3-0) and Argao (1-2) representing the first cluster and Dumanjug (3-0) and Moalboal (2-1) advancing in the third cluster.
Bracket two of the south and the three northern division brackets will still continue its elimination round games to find out which teams will be advancing.
Today, Mandaue City, which has virtually booked a quarterfinal seat with a 4-0 record, takes on Consolacion (3-1) at the Liloan Municipal Gym which will then be followed by Poro (0-4) battling the home team Liloan(3-1).
Today’s games will be crucial for Consolacion and Liloan since both are vying for the last seat to the next round in bracket 1 of the northern division. In case they finish with a tie, points depending on the number of sets played will break the tie.
In another North Division schedule, Balamban (2-1) will be facing Asturias (0-4) at the Catmon Municipal Gym. The unbeaten volleybelles from Catmon (3-0) will then face team Carmen (1-3).
Down south at the Dalaguete Municipal Gym, Samboan (0-2) takes on Oslob (1-1) while host team Dalaguete (2-0) faces Santander (1-1).
