Cebuano Betia among coaches in Jax camp

THE Jax Basketball Camp is all set to kick off on April 23 with Gilas Pilipinas and Far Eastern University assistant coach Ryan Betia headlining the roster of coaches who would be teaching the campers.

Betia, who hails from Cebu, started off as an assistant coach for the University of San Carlos. However, with equal parts perseverance and timing, he has worked his way up the coaching ladder, to eventually become part of the Gilas Pilipinas coaching staff as well as a prominent member of the FEU braintrust, being led by Olsen Racela.

Betia will be working alongside his former head coach, current Southwestern University Athletic Director, Cobras Head Coach and Camp Director Mike Reyes, as well as the camp’s founder Jabby Bautista, who incidentally played for both Betia and Reyes on the Warriors.

“I just want to give back to Cebu’s basketball community especially I started my career right there in Cebu,” said Betia. “They can expect a lot of fundamental and game-based drills since whichever team I am on, there are always basic drills which is the foundation of any good basketball player.

And of course, they can expect to have a lot of fun.”

The Jax Basketball Camp is offering quality and high intensity fun drills for aspiring young players. It keeps its focus on creating responsible players inside and outside the court, while guiding them to reach their maximum potential through sports.

The time slot for 12-under campers is at 1 p.m. while 13-above players will be at 2:30 p.m. Interested parties may call 0917-678-8529.
