THE MUCH anticipated all-Filipino world title showdown between the defending International Boxing Federation (IBF) world super flyweight champion Jerwin “Pretty Boy” Ancajas and mandatory challenger Jonas “Zorro” Sultan found a suitable new schedule and venue.
The fight will be on May 26 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Renowned international boxing matchmaker Sean Gibbons announced earlier this week that the Sultan-Ancajas showdown deserves a world-class venue by putting it at the 3,000-seater Chelsea Theater in The Cosmopolitan along the Strip of Las Vegas.
The fight was initially scheduled April 14, part of the undercard of Jeff Horn-Terence Crawford main event duel at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.
But it was decided to be held as a separate fight to honor the rare all-Filipino world title showdown, which last happened 93 years ago between world flyweight champion Pancho Villa taking on Clever Sencio on May 2, 1925.
The Sultan-Ancajas showdown will be promoted by Top Rank.
