AWARD-winnning film, “Die Beautiful” has received another international recognition.
The movie, which stars Paolo Ballesteros, won the Best Feature Film Award during the inaugural edition of the Newcastle International Film Festival held from March 29 to April 1 in United Kingdom.
This was confirmed by film producer Ferdinand Lapuz in an Instagram post last Friday.
The film’s director Jun Robles Lana reposted the good news on his Instagram account.
“2 years and still on a roll! Congrats, Team Beautiful,” Lana said on his Instagram account.
Produced by Regal Entertainment, “Die Beautiful” was one of entries at the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) in 2016.
The story was about Trisha Echeveria, a transgender woman played by Ballesteros who undergoes several makeup transformations during her wake.
Her best friend, Barbs, played by Christian Bables makes sure that Trisha’s dying wish comes true.
Ballesteros won Best Actor while Bables was named Best Supporting Actor during the MMFF 2016 Gabi ng Parangal.
The film was also recognized as Most Favorite Film.
”Die Beautiful” won the Audience Choice Award at the Tokyo International Film Festival in November 2016. Ballesteros also won the Best Actor award.
