Drug testing not required for candidates

Provincial Elections Officer lawyer Ferdinand Gujilde said that Candidates for the Barangay elections cannot be required to undergo a drug test.

If the same is required, Gujilde explained that it would require Congress to amend election laws.

However, Gujilde said that it is not a remote possibility that drug test results will be required in the next barangay election.

Guijilde also reminded the candidates to remain non-partisan; otherwise, they may be imprisoned, with a maximum service of a sentence of six years.
