DORMAKABA and Fenestram zoomed right to the top of the standings with contrasting victories in the second week of action in the Architects + Engineers Basketball Club Corporate Cup last Saturday at the University of San Carlos gym.
Dormakaba recorded yet another blowout, this time demolishing the undermanned Island Paints, 85-69, while Fenestram slipped past Davies Paints, 75-72.
Both teams tote identical 2-0 win-loss records to grab the early lead in the tournament.
Five players scored in double-figures for Dormakaba, who are three-time runners up in this competition. Ed Macasling scored 18 points, dished out five assists and had three steals while versatile forward Poi Magno added 16 markers, three rebounds, an assist, three steals and a block.
Niel Benedicto nearly had a double-double of 12 points and nine boards to go with five assists while Kyle Esbra had 10 points and five dimes.
In another game, defending champions Sea Olympus bounced back after last weekend’s opening day loss with a 75-68 win over Eastgrand.
Brian Acebedo and Justin Aspacio led the assault with 15 points each while Kim Rebosura pitched in 14 markers to help Sea Olympus even up their record at 1-1 and send Eastgrand to their second straight loss.
