BATTERY manufacturer Motolite will hold a cycling race dubbed Motolite Pangmatagalan Tune Up Cycling Race in Cebu on June 17.

The race will be held around the South Road Properties (SRP) bay walk area.

The organizers are expecting 150 cyclists to participate in the event, which offers P100,000 worth of cash prizes.

“We are very excited to try something else for a change,” Motolite regional sales manager Ruseller Cabana said during a press conference yesterday at the Hotel Pier Cuatro at the North Reclamation Area in Cebu City. “We want to show that Motolite does not limit to automotive only. We also want to take part in the promotion of social responsibility and wellness program.”

The race features 12 categories: Open/ Elite Division, Senior Division, Junior Division, Women Divisions A and B, Executive Divisions A and B, Veterans Division, Masters Division, Golden Division, Kiddies Division and Senior Citizen’s Division.

It will follow a point-to -point format covering a total distance of 2.5 kilometers.

Race director and event organizer Jose Deresas assured the public that the race will not add to the traffic dilemma in the area.

“The race will not involve any city and national road,” he pointed. “It will only take place along the SRP’s bay walk.”

Registration fee for the race is P650 inclusive of race kits, certificates, snacks and lunch.

Interested cyclists may contact Deresas at 0933-548-4858 and 0942-378-6080 for more information.
