Ian Veneracion to serenade Cebu tonight in first concert

EXPERIENCE a different side to actor Ian Veneracion as he performs in his first concert tonight in Cebu.

“All band members are handpicked. We rehearsed this for months. A lot of time, effort, and money were spent to give you the show,” Veneracion said last Thursday’s press conference for his concert dubbed “Ian in 3 Acts.”

The concert will be held tonight, 8 p.m. at the Pacific Grand Ballroom of Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino in Lahug.

The audience can expect familiar love songs as well as Veneracion’s own compositions.

“(There will be) A lot of songs that I love performing and love listening to. It’s my taste in music, too,” he said.

For the first time, Veneracion will also perform live his first single,” “We’re All Alone” which was released by Star Music early this month.

He will also perform the song “I Miss You The Most,” which he penned for his wife, Pam.

The 43-year-old actor admitted that he was anxious when the idea of holding a concert was pitched to him.

But when he learned that the first leg of the series would be held in Cebu, he felt comfortable.

“I’m just comfortable with it because of the love I have for Cebu and I know people here appreciate music,” he said.

Veneracion, whose mom is from Cebu, recalled spending his younger years fishing in Liloan, northern Cebu.

3 ACTS

“Ian in 3 Acts” is a reunion project of Veneracion and film director Mike Alcazaren who directed him in the film, “Puti” which was released last year.

Alcazaren said Veneracion’s concert, which is produced by Dreamwings Production Inc., was conceived early last year over a cup of coffee.

“Ian kasi was already resting from doing teleseryes and he wanted to explore his music. He let me listen to his compositions,” Alcazaren said.

Veneracion’s last TV series on ABS-CBN was last year’s “A Love To Last” which also starred Bea Alonzo and Iza Calzado.

“We met Flor Santos (producer) and the idea of putting a concert was on the table,” the director said.

Since Veneracion is known as an actor, they decided to let people know a different side of him which is his passion for music.

“I said you (Ian) have the voice. There are certain songs that he does very well,” Alcazaren said.

The concert is also something unusual for Alcazaren, who does mostly films and commercials.

It will be a narrative type with a giant screen set up, he said

“Each song was carefully planned out. Para syang narrative sa whole concert,” Alcazaren added.

The reason why they called it “Ian in 3 Acts” because they divided it into three acts, just like a film.

The first act will feature Veneracion, the actor and celebrity.

“Second act is the Ian you don’t know. Things that you are not familiar with about him,” Alcazaren said.

For the third act, the audience can expect his “private” persona.

Veneracion’s guest performer is Cebuana singer Vina Morales, who will do a duet with him.

Also performing are Star Music artist LA Santos and “The Voice Kids” talent Jolianne Salvado.

After Cebu, the concert will be brought to Resorts World Manila next month.
