THE duly-elected punong barangay of Barangay Punta Engaño, Diosaminda “Josie” Hayashi was still not able to take her seat on Thursday after she was not yet proclaimed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) of Lapu-Lapu City.
Atty. Ann Janette Lamban said that based on the order of the court in the Writ of Execution, she has to reconvene the Board of Canvassers (BOC) for the proclamation, but Hayashi’s camp came to the Comelec office just before the 5 p.m. closing time.
Hayashi’s group was said to have been delayed in asking for the Writ of Execution at the Lapu-Lapu City Hall of Justice.
According to Lamban, she will call Hayashi as soon as she can reconvene the BOC and proclaim her as the duly- elected punong barangay of Barangay Punta Engaño.
Unfortunately, Friday was a holiday in Lapu-Lapu City due to the Kadaugan sa Mactan while Saturday and Sunday are non-working days.
She said the BOC will most likely reconvene on Monday.
Hayashi filed an electoral protest against sitting Barangay Captain Lourdes Ibag.
The electoral protest was then referred to the court for recounting. It was then found out that Hayashi won by around 150 votes against Ibag in the 2013 elections.
