Enriquez leads Minglanilla to first victory in Governor’s Cup hoops

UNIVERSITY of the Visayas star point guard Steve Nash Enriquez put up a stellar performance in leading the defending champions Minglanilla Archangels to their first victory in the ongoing Governor’s Cup Inter-Cities and Municipalities Basketball Tournament.

Enriquez exploded for 26 points as Minglanilla beat Carcar City, 77-68, at the Minglanilla Sports Complex Monday night.

Enriquez teamed up with Mark Justin Nebril in the fourth as both scored a combined 22 points to down Carcar in their South Division Bracket 1 game.

Nebril added 13 points while Edriane Kyle Laspuña chipped in 11 for Minglanilla.

In the first game, Naga City also earned their first win of the tournament by escaping San Fernando, 73-71.

Nick Bryle dela Cerna nailed the game-winning jump shot for Naga.

Incidentally, Naga also won via a buzzer-beater three in overtime by Justin Atilano last week against Minglanilla.

But that win was nullified and both teams were ordered to re-play the extension period after league officials admitted an error by the technical team when it failed to see that Naga had six players on the court in that final play.

Keith Reiner Visayas led Naga against San Fernando with 21 points while Kevin Kendrick Guibao added 11.
