Keith DeFiebre Cycling Team bets win titles in Lapu

The Keith DeFiebre Cycling Team put up a show in the Kadaugan sa Mactan Criterium Race last Sunday at the Hoopsdome in Barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City.

The team hauled 11 medals and won in six of nine categories of the event to the delight of team owner Keith DeFiebre.

“It was as good as it could have been. There are many tremendously great racers in Cebu, and for our team to win six times on the day was certainly all

I could have hoped for,” DeFiebre said in a press statement given to Cebu Daily News.

Leading the way for the team was 13-year-old Moira Erediano, who topped the All-Women category with a close win against teammate Pamela Jane Ruiz.

Organizers had to use a video replay to confirm Erediano’s win. Erediano crossed the line just 10 centimeters ahead of Ruiz.

Luciele Mercado Ruiz, still part of Keith DeFiebre Cycling Team, finishes third.

Meanwhile, Dongkey Sanchez won first place in the MTB Open.

In the Masters 50 and 60 Above category, it was Nilo Barbalose who scored another medal for the team after finishing first place.

Sanchez and Barbalose were also top two in the 36-Above category. In the 36-Below category, it was still Sanchez who brought home the gold.

After the race, DeFiebre, who is currently in the United States, expressed his satisfaction towards the organizers after the event.

“The Hoopsdome Club were awesome with the organization of this race,” he said.
