MANDAUE and Catmon share the top spot as they both bagged their second straight wins in as many games in the ongoing north division quarterfinals round of the Governor’s Cup Inter-Cities and Municipalities Volleyball Tournament 2018 held at the Tabogon Municipal Gym.
Mandaue shamed Tabogon in their own turf, 25-4, 25-17, rendering the latter still winless in this round which will have the top two teams fighting each other for the north title and the right to fight the south division champion and become the grand champion of the tournament.
Catmon, on the otherhand, stayed immaculate with a 25-15, 25-16 lambasting of Medellin, which suffered its first loss in the round.
Medellin is now at par with Liloan, both having a 1-1 win-loss record so far, after the latter recovered from its first loss with a win against Danao, 25-16, 25-20. Thus Danao joins Tabogon as bottom dwellers.
The quarterfinal round follows a single round robin format with the top two teams advancing to the division finals, which also serves as the semifinals of the entire tournament.
The quarterfinals resume today at the Medellin Municipal Gym and will see Mandaue taking on Catmon at 1 p.m., to be followed by Danao versus Tabogon then Medellin facing Liloan.
