Two senior high school students were killed while four other female students were badly injured after they were hit by a car in Boljoon town past 4 p.m. yesterday.
The students were walking on the Lusapon bridge along the national highway when a Toyota Vios sedan driven by Al-Dhinier Sanaani mowed them down.
Police said Sanaani, a medical representative, was speeding at 70 kph to 80 kph when the car skidded and swerved towards the students.
He then rammed into the left railing before his car flipped on the road.
Boljoon municipal police identified the fatalities as Judy Ann Lomera, 17 and Christy Marie Estella, 18 both students of the Boljoon National High School.
Injured were: Joanne Mae Romero, 16; Melissa Mendez, 14; Nice Ancheta, 15 and Kynth Marie Mendez, 14.
The driver told police that he failed to notice a hump on the road. Lomera, Romero and Estella were thrown off the Lusapon bridge and landed on a big rock in the river.
The three other girls were also thrown off the bridge but landed on the riverbank.
Most of them were unconscious when they were brought to the municipal health center before they were transferred to the Cebu City Medical Center with severe head injuries.
Sanaani, a native of Jolo is residing in Visitacion St, Sambag Dos, Cebu City . He was with another medical representative, 26-year-old Kristine Joyce Batucan, of Guadalupe Cebu City who owned the car.
