Get your wrap right

The wrap dress is a flattering summer style.

WRAP dresses are once again thrust into the limelight, thanks to Diane Von Furstenberg for reintroducing it into the fashion world with much pizzazz.

Figure-flattering, versatile, and timeless, a wrap dress can definitely take you from workweek to weekend, day job to date night, boardroom to bar and ultimately, the beach.

This mommy closet must-have had me at slip-wrap-tie, five seconds and I’m done—- faster than I can put on my skinny jeans, faster than I can apply that contour.

Stylish on its own and a sure stunner, the wrap dress will certainly make you a poster child for chic and effortless styling.

But not all wrap dresses are worth the closet space, so I’m sharing with you a few tips on how to get your wrap right.

1. It’s all about the fit.

While wrap dresses flatter most body types, there are some dresses that make you feel so little —and by little I mean, little boobage action.

But that’s not really a problem because one quick visit to your seamstress can address that too loose a top.

A little nip and a little tuck is what it needs to give you just the right fit.

2. Slip for the slit. Most dresses drape beautifully down to the hems but there are a few that have too short a cloth that it flaunts what is nobody’s business.

Unless you’re wearing it as a cover-up, a slip is a must to prevent that embarrassing undie peep show.

3. Proper underwear, power shape wear.

Some wrap dresses come in soft jersey material that hugs the body like a glove and the last thing you want are those unsightly lumps and bumps.

No body-shaming right there but sometimes, we all have to deal withthese concerns aka hardcore truths and that’s where your shape wear comes in.

Tummy-toning and waist-cinching shapers make one look svelte in a body-hugging jersey wrap dress. Invest in a good quality shapewear that is sure to last you a good 1-2 years.

4. A good wrap dress need not be expensive.

We’ve all been there, thinking that good fitting dresses are hard to find and expensive but that’s not entirely true.

You only have to make sure that your wrap dress fits you perfectly, and is made of good quality material, and it will definitely feel and look expensive on you.

5. Wear wrap dress from the beach to the city by wearing a denim jacket, or to the office by wearing a blazer over it, a tank or cami when it’s too loose around the chest area or even wear it with skinny jeans for that dress over pants trend.

You can actually wear it with almost anything—a definite must-have and a true MVP in your closet.
