Special Assistant to the President Bong Go maintained that he will not run for the senatorial bet amid his sequential visits of the Ermita and Tejero fire victims today (May 10).

“Wala ko’y plano mudagan kay dili ko andam nianang mga butanga na. Dili ko politiko eh. (I have no plans to run because I am not yet ready about those things. I am not a politico.)” Go said.

In his recent attendance in Cebu during the Labor Day Celebration, he also emphasized that he is still not ready for the senatorial position in spite the vocal endorsement of the President and speculations brought about by staunch supporters and critics.

Go said that his visits were solely intended to pay respect and sympathy to the affected families.

“Hindi po ito pamumulitika. Ang amo-a trabaho lang ni. (This is not politicizing. We are only doing our job,” he reiterated.

The Special Assistant said that President Rodrigo Duterte ordered him to visit not just the fire victims of Cebu’s Ermita and Tejero but also Catbalogan where at least 300 houses were reduced to cinders on May 8.

“Among gipaabot ang among [kasubo] sa pamilya sa mga biktima. Dili lalim nga masunogan ka. Kami naa mi diri para makatabang gamay ug mapalipay man lang ang mga taw og makit-an nga naa ang gobyerno diri. (We are extending our grief to the families of the victims. It is not easy when you are a victim of a fire. We are here so that we can help a little and to make the people happy seeing that the government is here.)” Go said.

Relatives of Tejero fire-related electrocution victim Roy Coronado who works as a traffic enforcer were assured by Go that medical expenses will be shouldered by the government.

“Ayaw na na huna-hunaa. Ayaw mo’g kagool. (Don’t think about it anymore. Don’t you worry.)” Go told Coronado’s relatives./PIT Intern Marthy John Lubiano
