A total of 86 teams will be battling it out on the field as the 2nd Mactan Football Festival 2018 kicks off on Saturday at the Benthel Asia School of Technology in Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.
According to tournament organizer Limhar “Ipang” Baunsit, to be contested today are the grassroots and youth categories— Under 7 Mix, U9 Mix, U11 Mix, U13 Boys, U15 Boys, and U17 Boys.
Tomorrow will be the higher age-group categories such as the Men’s Open, the Company/BPO Men’s, Company/BPO Ladies, and the 38-Above.
Of the 86 teams, 41 are seeing action in the grassroots and youth categories, while the Men’s Open and the Company/BPO Men’s attracted 16 teams each.
The tournament is a 7-A-Side with 15 minutes to play per game.
All categories will follow a single round robin format. Categories that have four brackets will have the top two teams advancing to the quarterfinals, then semifinals and the finals.
Categories with only two brackets will directly have the top two teams advancing to the semifinals while categories with only a single bracket will have the top two teams automatically qualifying for the finals.
