With her defeat in the barangay elections, Punta Engaño Barangay Captain Josie Hayashi is planning to file an election protest as her group were gathering evidence allegedly of cheating by the rival camp.

Crisanto Estardo, Hayashi’s opponent, however, said they never thought about cheating and they never cheated.

Estardo said it was just the people who chose them to be their leader.

Hayashi, for her part, cited the extra ballot box from precinct 442 of Punta Engano Elementary and High School.

The precinct chairman has explained the reason for the ballot box being there as chairman was also a member of the barangay board of canvassers.

To remove any doubt, the questioned ballot box was later brought and placed at the principal’s office.

Hayashi, however, said that her previous experience on election protests had given her second thoughts on pushing through with them.

She was referring to her election protest in the previous election, where she was declared winner only a few weeks before this year’s election.
