Erik Matti praises Anne Curtis

ACTRESS Anne Curtis has been receiving generous praise from director Erik Matti.

In an Instagram post, the award-winning filmmaker describe what makes Curtis—his lead star in the upcoming action film, “Buy Bust”—a star.

Matti recalled all the “crazy things” they asked Curtis to do.

“She was dragged on a table full of breakables, light on fire with no doubles, and three days of gruelling 57 takes of 3-minute one tracking shot with rain, jumps, punches, and kicks,” he said.

“Stars who are willing to do what it takes for certain roles they feel are memorable, just like Nora and Vilma, are not too many,” Matti said.

The director cited that other stars have too many rules.

“Some will take shortcuts and not break out a drop of sweat. A lot of them will spend more time looking at the mirrors than doing the actual scene. And most of them will think that that is already what commitment means,” he added.

“And looking at the roles she’s been accepting with #SidandAya and her new horror film, Anne Curtis Smith is the real deal. She’s a celebrity second.

And a really good actor first,” he ended his post.

“Buy Bust” is Curtis’ first action film. Matti, who directed the movie, is known for his critically acclaimed films “OTJ,” “Honor Thy Father,” and “Seklusyon,” among others.

The official trailer of “Buy Bust” was rleased by Viva Films four months ago through its YouTube channel.

In the film, Curtis plays a member of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA). A buy-bust operation will take place after they discover a shabu laboratory.

The 33-year-old actress replied to Matti’s Instagram post.

“Direk. Wait lang. Nakakaiyak. Thank you. Thank you thank you thank you a million times for your kind words. I could never be more grateful for allowing this script to fall into my lap,” she said.

She said her role as Mañigan in the action film has brought out what she could give as an actress.

“She’s one for the books for me. Actually the craziness of #BuyBust is one for the books! Can’t wait to see how it’s come to life! As Kuya Pong likes to say, “Tara! Ratratan na!” she said.
