Cebuano Rosauro more prepared for fight against Indonesia’s Peringkat

YAW-YAN ArDigma chief Master Benigno “Ekin” Caniga Jr. is optimistic that his prized ward, Roel “Akiyama” Rosauro, will perform better in his second One Championship bout tonight in Singapore.

Rosauro, a native of Camotes Island, Cebu, faces Indonesian Sunoto “Terminator” Peringkat in the undercard of One: Unstoppable Dream at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The Cebuano lost via a first-round submission in his first bout against Chinese Li Kai Wen last February in Myanmar.

According to Caniga, Rosauro is more prepared for this fight compared to his debut, where he was only given two weeks to get ready.

Against the Indonesian, Rosauro was able to start preparing two months earlier.

“We are more prepared and trained better compared to his first fight,” Caniga told Cebu Daily News.

Still, Caniga said his fighter will not be too confident about the fact that he is more prepared.

“We will fight with caution and we will not be that complacent because his opponent has also trained very well for this fight. Anything can happen in this fight,” he said.

Rosauro debuted in One Championships in the stacked 145-pound division or the featherweight division in MMA.

This time, he will fight in the lighter 135lb division, or the bantamweight division, to gain a little advantage.

Rosauro has five wins and two losses in his pro MMA career while Peringkat has eight wins and three defeats.

Another Filipino warrior and former One Championships world lightweight champion Eduard ‘Landslide’ Folayang will make his cage return against Kharun ‘Predator’ Atlangeriev of Russia.

The main event will feature Singaporean Women’s One atomweight world champion Angela Lee defending her title against Japanese Mei Yamaguchi.

Two other world title showdowns will be featured in the fight card with Vietnamese-Aussie One featherweight champion Martin Nguyen facing Lee’s younger brother, Christian Lee. Sam-a Gaiyanghadao of Thailand and Sergio Wielzen of Suriname, South Africa will fight for the One Super Series Muay Thai flyweight world title.
