THE Consolacion Sarok Weavers is one win away from dominating the north division bracket 1 of the ongoing 2018 Governor’s Cup after securing their fourth consecutive win by crushing Cordova, 104-83, last Friday night at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.
Danao City, for its part, improved its chances to secure the second spot or even forge a tie at the top spot with Consolacion after effortlessly snatching its third straight win after Carmen was made to default in their game for wearing the wrong jersey color.
Mandaue City, meanwhile, stays in contention after thrashing Compostela, 86-62, in the other north division bracket 1 game. With a 2-1 (win-loss) card, the squad is hopeful of clinching the no.2 spot in the division.
However, a three-way tie at the top is possible for Consolacion, Danao City and Mandaue City. This, if Consolacion loses its final match in the north division bracket 1 against Danao City and the latter could improve to a 4-0 record or even sweep its elimination games. Mandaue City, for its part, could also win its remaining two matches, paving for the three teams to all end with a 4-1 card for a three-way logjam at the top.
Meanwhile, in the North Bracket N2, San Francisco is proving to be a force to reckon with among the Camotes Island teams. It scored another strong win, a 110-50 demolition of Tudela for its second straight win.
Borbon, on the other hand, also logged its second win to gain a share of the N2 lead following a thrilling 95-92 win over Sogod.
