Selected streets to close during Gabii sa Kabilin

THE Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (Citom) has authorized the closure of four streets in Cebu City during the Gabii sa Kabilin heritage event on May 25, 2018 from 5 p.m to midnight.

The roads to be closed are the Eduardo Aboitiz Street (formerly Lopez Jaena), Mabini Street, P. Burgos Street from corner V. Gullas Street up to M.C. Briones Street, and a portion of Colon Street from corner Jakosalem Street to Mabini Street.

Commuters and drivers are advised to avoid the areas affected by the road closures or take alternative routes to avoid inconvenience.

Heavy traffic will be expected in roads connecting the streets that will be closed.

Main thoroughfares such as M.J. Cuenco Avenue, V. Gullas Street, Legazpi Street, Sikatuna Street, T. Padilla Street, Zulueta Street, P. del Rosario, part of Colon Street, M.C. Briones, Osmena Boulevard and N. Bacalso Avenue are expected to experience heavy traffic from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Gabii sa Kabilin is an annual event held every last Friday of May to celebrate the Philippines’ Heritage Month. It is initiated by Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI) Culture & Heritage Unit in partnership with the Cebu City government and supported by the cities of Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue and Talisay, and the Province of Cebu. Currently on its 12th run, it features 29 participating museums and heritage sites.
