A murder complaint has been filed at the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday against the 53-year-old suspect in the May 15 killing of a registered nurse and medical student, Amy Therese Cabataña.
The complaint was filed on Tuesday morning against the suspect, Willy Velez, who remains at large, said Senior Police Officer 3 (SPO3) Rommel Bangcog, Cebu City Police Office (CPPO) investigator, in a phone interview on Tuesday.
Supt. Ryan Devaras, CCPO Investigation Detection Management Branch chief, said that they proceeded with the filing of the complaint after four witnesses executed their affidavits.
Devaras said that one of the witnesses claimed seeing the suspect enter the victim’s rented room before the victim was found dead.
Devaras said that they would just wait for the warrant of arrest to be issued against the suspect for them to pursue him, whom they believed was still in Cebu.
